Ever wonder how expensive the keywords are on Google Ads? We have compiled a list of the most expensive keywords anyone can ever bid on today, we did a similar piece back in 2017. We are going to focus on Search (keywords) in this article, which is also known as SEM (Search Engine Marketing).
Not to be confused with SEO, SEM is the paid listing where you pay when users click on the search results. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is how you optimize your website ranking in the organic listing.
A little explanation of how we conducted the research, this list was retrieved from the Keyword Planner tool within Google Ads. It’s sorted by categories for convenience. This list was compiled on 2 April 2019 so the data is bound to change even as we speak so it’s more of a reference point and not a final benchmark.
We have excluded some categories which are sort of duplicated or without top keywords that really fit into the category. The same goes for the keywords, in order to provide a meaningful ranking.
There is a total of 14 categories, for a start let’s rank the categories with its most expensive keyword (CPC in bracket):
